4-16-24 THOUGHTS
It is The SUFFERING of Christ that we called to think about this morning. That suffering is left for us to follow. Jesus himself said “"And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.” Matt 10:38 That ought to sober us! We must note that while Christ was suffering in the flesh, He “kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;” If we are to follow Jesus, we must do the same. May we continually “return to the Shepherd and Guardian of our souls.” 1Pet 1:5 “who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” Isa 53:7 “He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth”. Surely by Christ’s death our salvation came. Below we read that “by His wounds we are healed.”
1Pet 2:21-25 For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, 22 WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH; 23 and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.
My Prayer:
We exalt Your name, O God of all. Have mercy on we who are weak. Give us strength to follow Jesus. Give us the soberness to examine our following accurately and truly. Stir up a powerful zeal in our hearts that bears fruit. Make us disciples in the truest sense of the word. Help us to make disciples. May we keep entrusting ourselves to You, O God. Give us a sustaining as we abide in You. We know Your way, O Lord, may we adopt the right and sensible as we seek eternity with You. In the name of our Savior, Jesus the Christ, Amen.
